ProfessionalManager

/hcm/team is your home as a manager. Five approval inboxes across the top show every decision waiting on you (PTO, expenses, promotions, comp adjustments, accommodations). Eight intelligence cards below give you a live read of your team — readiness, retention risk, comp equity, hiring funnel, time-off balance, goal progress, 1:1 prep state, learning required. A toggle lets you switch between direct reports only and full subtree scope.

TL;DR — Open HCM → Team. Clear approval inboxes first; they unblock your reports. Then scan intelligence cards for trends. Use the subtree toggle when you need to look beyond your direct reports (e.g. a skip-level decision or a roll-up).

Before you start

  • The page renders only if you have at least one direct report in the HCM employee graph. Workspace admins create reporting relationships during onboarding.
  • The subtree scope is your full org sub-tree below you. With 20+ reports, performance can rely on aggregates; expand selectively rather than always full-subtree.

Direct reports vs subtree

The toggle at the top of the page switches your scope:

FieldWhat it doesAccepted values / default
Direct (default)Just your direct reports.Fast; most common.
SubtreeYou + everyone below you in the org graph.Use for roll-ups; can be slow for large subtrees. Approval inboxes still show only the items routed to you.
Scope persists per session; refreshes on sign-in.

Retention-risk model

The retention card composites six drivers into a 0-1 risk score per report. The card sorts by signal × weight; clicking a row shows the TOP contributing drivers in plain language. The model:

  • Never names a single cause as decisive. The card always presents the top drivers together, never a single number.
  • Anonymises peer comparison. Comp comparisons surface as "below midpoint by X%" not as a name reference.
  • Honors data minimization. Only the manager sees their reports' risk — not other managers, not HR by default.

Calibration prep

When a review cycle's calibration window is open, the dashboard adds a Calibration prep card. You draft pre-calibration ratings and notes there; HR finalizes after the calibration session.

Common gotchas

  • "I don't see a report I expect." Reporting relationships are stored in the HCM employee graph; ask HR to verify.
  • "Subtree mode is slow." Large subtrees aggregate many rows; use direct mode unless you need the roll-up.
  • "Retention card highlighted someone I just promoted." The model doesn't see your promotion until the comp update flows through; check back in a few days.
  • "I want to see HR's view of my team." You see manager-view; HR has a separate analytics surface with workspace-wide aggregates.

Troubleshooting

Error codeWhat it meansFix
MANAGER_NO_REPORTSYou have no direct reports in HCM.HR creates the reporting relationship.
MANAGER_SUBTREE_TIMEOUTSubtree aggregation timed out.Use direct scope or narrow the time window.
MANAGER_INBOX_LOAD_FAILEDInbox couldn't load (transient).Refresh.
